Harry Bertoia - Wire Chairs & Stools
Design Classics!
Harry Bertoia was a sculptor and furniture designer. He designed a series of these wire chairs for Knoll in the 1950's. The Bertoia Wire Chairs are now classic mid-twentieth century-American furniture icons.
In order to reproduce Bauhaus and Modern Classics Furniture in accordance to the original designs, one needs to have years of experience to do so. The right tools and a perfect manufacturing process are necessary in order to bend tubes or to make upholstery that keep its shape for decades. Despite the designers' intention to create furniture which can easily be produced mechanically, the making of most modern classics still requires
much skilled hand labor and various different production steps.
