The Dining Chair Wood (DCW) was designed by one of the most influential design teams of the Twentieth Century. This chair is considered a breakthrough in seating technology.

The DCW continues to be an icon of Modern Design style. The superb molded plywood chair was hailed by Time Magazine as the Best Design of the 20th Century.

Along with the Lounge Chair and Ottoman in leather, this may be one of the most recognized pieces in modern design history. With an expertly crafted molded plywood seat and back, this chair is extremely comfortable and built for longevity.

The seat is joined to the lumbar support and legs with a series of four heavy rubber washers with nuts embedded in them (later these came to be called 'shock mounts'). The shock mounts are glued to the underside of the seat, and screwed in through the bottom of the chair. The backrest is also attached using shock mounts. The rubber mounts are pliable, allowing the backrest to flex when the chair is occupied.

This was one of the first examples of a dining chair with a responsive backrest.
