A: We represent several hundred different lines. Many of our product lines have local showrooms where you can feel, see, and touch our furniture. Please contact us and we can direct you to a showroom if you live in a major city.

In addition we have a showroom for our classic line located in Las Vegas, Nevada in the World Market Center for our west coast customers.

Our model is just like Amazon.com. We ship factory direct to speed up your purchases and keep our prices as low as possible. Our goal is to offer Design Within Reach style products at wholesale prices. Therefore, we encourage shoppers to go to DWR to compare our similar products and services. Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOU AND DWR?

A: Our products are similar in design, construction, scale, and materials to the higher priced DWR versions. The major difference is the amount of money that you will be saving by selecting our items vs. the DWR editions. Plus on may items we offer an exclusive upgrade on all of our frames that DWR does not offer.

DWR uses black pig iron that is dipped in chrome for their classic pieces. We think our customers deserve a higher grade of product than this. Therefore we require our factories to use stainless steel frames that are buffed to a highly polished finish instead. For instance we use imported, heavy gauge, all stainless steel, highly polished 12 MM frames on all of our Barcelona pieces.

This costs us far more, but the result is well worth this extra effort. The end product lasts a lifetime and is very durable. In comparison DWR regular chrome plated products will start to shed and peel over the years. Plus oxidation will occur on a chrome piece whereas highly polished stainless steel is impervious to rust, oxidation, and metal corrosion. In addition we only use 100% imported Italian leather for each and every product we manufacture. This premium full leather material is the finest that money can buy!

With DWR, Herman Miller, and Knoll you are also paying extra for the use of licensed products that adds to the price of each piece. Many of the designs that DWR, Herman Miller and Knoll sell are now in the public domain for classic Bauhaus models. In the past manufactures had to pay an extra fee for the use of these designs and the artist was paid a fee for each product that was produced. However most of these products no longer require such. But companies such as Knoll and Herman Miller did not lower their prices to reflect this change. Instead they just pocket the sum they once paid to the architect. Rather than decreasing the prices to reflect the lower production costs for these items the manufactures have decided to raise them. The only ones that are being fooled by this is the un-informed public. DWR prices are costlier than ours in that you have to pay for all of their stores, advertising, marketing, and promotional costs. Also DWR charges taxes in all the states that they have stores in. We use the direct to the consumer model instead. Consequently you will be getting the factory direct, wholesale price, instead of the top dollar retail price that DWR offers.



Q: HOW DO YOUR REPRODUCTIONS COMPARE TO HERMAN MILLER AND KNOLL PRODUCTS?

A: We sell both factory authorized originals and reproductions at a lower price point. Either way you will end up saving money when you purchase from us as we are an internet deep discounter.

Many people ask us if our products are re-productions or Herman Miller or Knoll originals. Herman Miller, Knoll, and Gibraltar Furniture all sell re-production pieces as the originals are very valuable art pieces and reside in museums or private collections. Plus if you purchased an original edition you may not want to use such for every day use as this would be very risky practice. Therefore Herman Miller, Knoll, and Gibraltar Furniture all sell reproductions of the original design. Herman Miller and Knoll charge you more for this privilege. Q: WHAT KIND OF LEATHER DO YOU USE AND WHERE IS IT FROM?

A: All of our imported classics are made of 100% Italian leather, manufactured in Italy, by the Mastrotto Group. Based in Arzignano (Vicenza, Italy), the Mastrotto Group is the gold standard for world wide hide production and one of the most important global sources for the creation of upholstery and leather goods. They are the exclusive source for all of the leather used in Mercedes Benz and BMW automobiles. Our premium top grain leather hides are aniline dyed and carefully turned in specially designed drums to soften them. Then a finish coat is added to protect the surfaces against all stains and fading. Our top grain leather has a fine and butter soft hand feel to it. It is both resistance to sunlight, and very easy to maintain. This product offers an excellent combination of softness, durability and consistency. Not only is this leather soft and luxurious, it can outlast fabric up to four times longer. Top grain leather is leather from the uppermost layer of a hide. It is the highest quality part of the hide. This leather is also known as semi-aniline or aniline plus.

We use only Italian first-rate quality imported European leather on all of our products. This guaranties superior quality, longevity, and unparalleled luxury. We do not use split hides in our classics collection. The Mastrotto Group is one of the world's premier leather manufacturers and produces over 3 million hides every year.

Full Grain Naked Aniline Leather is available too. Full Grain Naked Aniline leather is the softest and most expensive leather manufactured. This leather is left in its most natural/naked state after the aniline-dye process. The leathers reveal different grain patterns and other natural markings. We apply a light protective coat to seal and protect our Full Grain, Naked Leather. This skin is the finest that money can buy. We offer this upgrade in black only.

All of our imported classics feature imported high quality Stainless steel frames polished to a mirror shine. Our solid steel foundations will not rust, chip, or peel. Unlike inferior, lower quality versions with open joints and exposed screws, all our joints are fully wielded, sealed and sanded. Each piece also boosts a custom cushion system that is custom crafted by our expert craftsmen. All our cushions are made of multi-density foam, layered for the highest plush comfort and support.

If it is not imported by Gibraltar, you may not be getting excellence. All Gibraltar Design products come with proper legal labels on the cushions Many of our competitors may replicate our look and offer great prices of our architectural classics, but they use PVC piping, PVC buttons, re-constituted leather & paper-fiber straps, hard low grade foam, low grade stainless steel (that actually corrodes and rusts), poorly polished frames, low grade Chinese leathers falsely claimed as Italian leather, etc.

What is Pure Aniline Leather? Pure Aniline is top grain leather that is dyed for color without any pigments applied. These hides will exhibit some natural characteristics such as healed scars, scratches, neck and belly wrinkles. Expect color variation from the swatch to the actual leather, due to the fact leather is a natural product and will absorb dye differently within the hide and from hide to hide. This leather will develop a rich patina over time and will fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight.

What is Protected Aniline Leather? Protected aniline leather is a top grain leather that is dyed for color and then receives pigment to ensure color consistency. Without pigment a protected leather is not color consistent. The pigment also ensures fade resistance and helps the leather wear over time. A clear water based topcoat is applied for additional protection. The natural imperfections of the hide are also less noticeable. Hides average 50-55 square feet. Protected Aniline Leathers are easy to maintain and have maximum resistance to wear, soiling, and fading from light.

What is Semi-Aniline Leather? Semi-Aniline leather is pure aniline leather that has a small amount of pigment or clear finish thus allowing the natural characteristics of the hide to still show through while offering some of the benefits of color consistency and increased wearability.

Has the leather been dyed all the way through? Is the leather drum dyed? Aniline dyed leather is soaked in a large drum to allow the dye to penetrate all the way through the hide. This is where these terms originate. All aniline dyed leathers are drum dyed all the way through so that is if the top should scratch the layer underneath will be the same color.

How do I care for leather and how do I clean leather? How to care for leather and how to clean leather depends entirely upon what type of leather you have. And remember, cleaning leather is an imperfect art at best. We can break this down into three categories. If you are uncertain about something don’t hesitate to ask us!

How to care for and clean Pigmented Leathers (including Protected Aniline Leathers). Pigmented leather is the easiest to care for and to clean. In general it can be identified by its shiny and glossy surface, however there are exceptions so be careful. It requires very little care. Use lukewarm water and mild soap, but nothing abrasive. Work up some suds and go over the surface with a soft cloth. Rinse off any soap film with clean water and toweling. It may dry dull, but normal gloss can be restored by rubbing with clean toweling. Never use saddle soap, furniture polish, oil, varnish, ammonia, or cleaning solvents. If you get ink or lipstick on your pigmented leather there are special products that can help remove these marks. For additional care and protection consider one of our Professional Cleaning Products. How to care for and clean Non-Pigmented Leathers (including Pure Aniline, Semi-Aniline Leathers). Non-Pigmented Leathers are more difficult to care for and to clean. It is important to note that a Semi-Aniline Leather falls into this category even though it has a small amount of pigment in it. In general non-pigmented leather can be identified by the lack of a shiny and glossy surface, however this is not a foolproof method of identification. This type or leather tends to absorb oils and stains and develops a patina over time as the leather ages. If you get any type of food on it, get it off as best you can with a dry cloth, without wiping it into the leather, and then leave it alone! The spot should dissipate into the leather in a short time. Do not try to clean with water. Never use saddle soap, furniture polish, oil, varnish, ammonia, or cleaning solvents. For additional care at the time of purchase, and we do recommend this, especially for non-pigmented leathers, consider one of our Professional Cleaning Products

Q: ARE YOUR CLASSIC PRODUCTS COPIES OR ORIGNIALS?

A: We often get the question: "Are your pieces original?" A simple answer would be of course not, they are all currently produced, "mint in box" brand new items, not old originals.

Many of the true original ideal type case study models no longer exist. A few authentic, old originals are found in museums, or sell at astronomic, (but realistic) prices at auctions or at antique stores. Often times these pieces are often in very bad shape as a result of years of wear and tear.

Instead Gibraltar offers the highest quality reproductions, at factory direct prices on all these pieces! They are "reproductions" of old designs. Our design experts have exactly copied each and every detail and faithfully executed all of the scale, aspects, and lines of these masterpieces.

Careful attention has been given to maintaining the same look, feel, and style of the Bauhaus icons that define modernism. You will be getting a perfectly made modern art piece, crafted in the European tradition, at a price you can't beat!

In order to reproduce Bauhaus and Modern Classics pieces we work with factories that have decades of expert production experience. We use overseas factories to achieve these results. We use due diligence to insure that all the right tools are used in this process. We employ only perfect manufacturing methods in order to bend tubes and to make upholstery that keeps its shape for decades. The results are master pieces that ring true to the originals.

Despite the designers' intention to create furniture which can easily be produced mechanically, the creation of modern classics requires considerable skilled hand labor and a wide variety of different production steps.

Our overseas factories use optimum methods to reproduce these beautiful Bauhaus and Modern Classics Furniture in a way so you can enjoy them year after year.

To illustrate, we offer the Barcelona series at our store. Mies van der Rohe designed the Lounge Chair and Ottoman for the German Pavilion at the International Exhibition of 1929 in Barcelona, Spain. The "X"-shaped Mies Lounge Chair and Ottoman features sleek minimalist line styling which produces a perfect blend of art and function. Gibraltar's Mies Lounge Chair and Ottoman is made of heavy gauge solid stainless steel seamlessly welded and polished to a high luster, It features comfortable high density fire-retardant polyurethane foam wrapped in Dacron, enclosed in ticking, and encased in fine imported 100% Italian leather.

Many of the classics have undergone some construction changes since they were designed in the 20's and 30's. Todays materials and tools allow for construction as crisp as the designers envisioned, but could not necessarily achieve due to the state of yesterdays technology. Many problems have occurred in older pieces when metal fatigue has resulted in damaged frames which can no longer be used. Our modern construction technique produces a metal frame with greater strength in its joints. This means your furniture, will be sturdier than the originals.

Our reproductions are very high quality new items designed for daily use. They are not numbered or stamped to justify the tripling of prices. If you purchase an item like this, you are actually paying for a license fee that is no longer required. The manufacture of such pieces is charging you a premium for a royalty that once went to a designer. Now that these designs have been paced into the public domain a patent payment is unnecessary. However, instead of lowering the price points on these editions the fabricators are happy to hold onto your money and pocket the difference. They will not lower their price levels to reflect this change to not offend their previous customers. Instead they are happy to charge thousands of dollars more for the same items that we sell for a fraction of the price.

All of our pieces feature high quality imported premium heavy gauge steel. Ultra-Premium #304 Solid flat bar stock Stainless Steel pieces are used in each of our units. These are then hand polished to a super brilliant chrome style finish. Our frames are NOT made using lower cost carbon steel, which may be chrome-plated hollow tubes and then bolted/screwed together. Over the years this chrome will start to peel and corrode leaving you with an ugly unit.

All of our reproductions are made using 100% imported Italian leather. Multiple colors and grades of premium top grain Italian leather are available for your design requirements. We sources our hides from the same supplier that provides leather for Mercedes Benz and BMW automobiles Every square of leather is hand selected, piped, tufted and individually sewn by expert leather craftsmen Each piece is true to form, comfortable, and feature a luxurious cushion system.

Naturally there is a range in quality of the reproductions on the market. Be assured Gibraltar are tops in quality in every possible way! Today classic furniture is produced by many different manufacturers, some with great care and attention to details, others with less care. Many lower cost releases will compromise quality by using vinyl, pig leather, or low cost Chinese inferior hides.

Copy or original? We call the items what they truly are: "reproductions" of old design, no matter who produces them today. Q: WHERE ARE YOUR REPRODUCTIONS MADE?

A: We sell these products from two main sources.

1. Italian leather, Italian stainless Steel, European construction We source these models from Gordon International. We use 100% Italian Leather and 100% stainless steel frames. As Italian labor is more costly than non -European overseas sources the cost corresponding goes up. Please visit www.gordoninternational.com for pricing info. It takes 15-20 hours to pay these chairs. Labor in Europe is about $30 per hour. This makes the total cost higher. However, we mark down all of these models and the price that you will pay will be 30% off of the list price. We deep discount all of these models as we are a factory direct internet wholesaler.

2. Italian leather, Italian stainless Steel, Non-European construction We source these models from our own overseas factory. We use 100% Italian leather and 100% stainless steel frames. As overseas labor is less expensive than European workmen the total price goes down accordingly. It takes 15-20 hours to pay these chairs. Non-European labor is about $3 per hour. This makes the total cost lower. We deep discount all of these models as we are a factory direct internet wholesaler.

The quality is virtually the same, the materials are the same, and the end product is the same. Therefore the choice is yours.

Volume Discount All customers are eligible for a discount once they reach a certain amount of purchases within one year. The amount accumulated is referred to as the customer's Year to Date (YTD). YTD includes orders placed (merchandise only) since the beginning of the current calendar year- (January 1't) plus the current order being entered (merchandise only), less returns, net exchanges, and does not include quotes, cancelled orders, tax or shipping. YTD is reset to zero at the beginning of each year.

YOU MUST SELECT WHICH DELIVERY SERVICE YOU PREFER PRIOR TO SHIPPING. IT CANNOT BE CHANGED WHILE THE ORDER IS ENROUTE.

We use only the most reputable shipping services (UPS, FedEx, BAXGLOBAL) for small packages and national trucking companies for large items. After the shipment leaves our dock, allow 7-10 business days for delivery. We will send you a tracking number via e-mail once we have such. If you have not received a tracking number it is simply a function that this number has not been created yet.

For larger items, we recommend that you have additional help available to bring the items from the curb to inside your home or business. There is an up-charge for RESIDENTIAL HOME deliveries because the large trucking companies will have to make an extra effort to use smaller trucks and call you 1-2 days before the delivery to set-up a delivery appointment.

WHAT WILL THE SHIPPING CHARGES BE FOR MY PURCHASE?

On most items Gibraltar has already calculated a freight fee already. The delivery charge includes a 68% discount that we receive as a volume shipper. If your end delivery address is not a commercial address the shipper will add an additional residential surcharge. We will e-mail you regarding your freight charges for any product that does not have a shipping charge attached to it.

WHY IS MY SHIPMENT TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED?

Post 9/11 inspections are causing unexpected delays in some of our shipments. In rare cases our containers will be delayed due to customs and other situations. In general, we only ship out items after they are in our warehouse and ready for delivery.In certain situations we will hold an item for customers, prior to receipt of our container,to insure that our clients receive first priority delivery. After the carton is unloaded your shipment will then be rushed to you.If you do not hear from us please know that your order is on route and will arrive shortly.

WHAT DO I DO IF AN ITEM IS DAMAGED?

All of our items are examined before we crate them to insure that 100% of the goods are int in box. We will not send out any item that has a defect, blemish, or damage. Therefore, be advised that any damage that occurs will have happened in transit.

Please un crate and examine all goods upon receipt of your shipment. All merchandise should be fully inspected upon receipt for evidence of damage or shortage before acceptance. When damage or shortage occurs, refuse acceptance until the transportation agent endorses extent of damage or shortage. If external appearance has not indicated damage, but upon opening, contents are found damaged, unpacking should be stopped and an inspector of the delivering carrier should be called immediately. The inspector should indicate on the delivery receipt the exact condition of the contents.

Claims should be filed immediately by the customer. DO NOT ACCEPT RECEIPT OF GOODS IF ANY HIDDEN DAMAGE IS UNCOVERED! WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR HIDDEN DAMAGE AFTER YOU HAVE SIGNED FOR THE RECEIPT OF GOODS.

If your delivery is delayed it is a function of the delivery service and we will do everything in our power to speed the process.

IS GIBRALTAR FURNITURE A FREIGHT COMPANY?

Gibraltar Furniture is not a freight company, and not a delivery company. Our third party freight carriers do not provide inside residential services due to insurance regulations.

We provide connections to these outside third party vendors and we do not take responsibility for their performances. We include this notice on our website, invoice, and all the e-mails we send.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

You can return any standard product purchased if you are not satisfied within 7 days of the receipt of the product. After a Gibraltar inspection, if the product is returned unused in the original box, we will exchange it or offer you a refund, less a 20% restocking fee. The product must be returned to our Warehouse within 30 days of the issuance of Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA).

Please note that our warehouse address is different than our corporate location and no returns will be received at our PO Box address. All returned items must be packed in their original packaging including any accessories and documentation that shipped with the product. You must PREPAY ALL freight charges and/or insurance charges back to our warehouse. No returns are allowed on custom orders and discounted items. If you require a custom order to be cancelled prior to shipment, then you will forfeit your 50% deposit.

For proper credit, all returns must include the RMA number clearly marked on the outside of the package. To obtain a RMA number, you may email us at sales@gibraltarfurniture.com or call us at 310 276-8889. We will supply you with the address and RMA number after we review your case.

Unauthorized returns will be refused. We do not credit shipping and handling charges. Gibraltar recommends that you:

1) use a carrier that offers tracking and 2) either insure your package for safe return to Gibraltar Design or declare the full value of the shipment so that you are completely protected if the shipment is lost or damaged in transit. If you choose not to

You can expect a refund in the same form of payment originally used for purchase within 7 to 14 business days of our receiving your return in its original packaging and in new condition. Your return may also be subject to a 20% restocking fee. You must inspect all orders immediately upon arrival. If you see any obvious damage, you must note it on the carrier�s delivery receipt and should refuse shipment. If you choose to keep it for inspection, you must note the exception(s) on the delivery receipt before you sign for it. Notify the delivery agent and contact us immediately. We will provide you with instructions on returning the damaged items and sending replacements.

HOW DO I CANCEL AN ORDER?

Yes, you can cancel an order when it is in the estimate stage. However, once your order becomes an invoice it is finalized.

All special order furniture purchases are non-cancelable and non-returnable.

What is the re-stocking charge for returns?

A 20% re-stocking fee applies to any, and all returns. No returns are accepted without prior, written authorization.



WHAT ABOUT FREIGHT DAMAGES?

Necessary re-orders in the event of severe freight damage will be handled by Gibraltar on a fast track basis. On all orders we will attempt to schedule, with the help of the freight company the best departure schedule available. However, we cannot be responsible for truck arrivals or mistakes made by the freight company.



HOW ABOUT HIDDEN DAMAGES?

DO NOT ACCEPT RECEIPT OF GOODS IF ANY HIDDEN DAMAGE IS SUSPECTED! WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR HIDDEN DAMAGE AFTER YOU HAVE SIGNED FOR THE RECEIPT OF GOODS. Gibraltar will not ship any goods to which the shipper has attached any exception. Therefore all Goods on a shipment are shipped in new condition and complete and any claims at the receiving end are strictly between the receiver and the shipper. If a shipment is received damaged you should immediately file a claim with the transportation company. This includes any damages, hidden or otherwise, or any missing parts or hardware during the shipping and delivery process. In the event that Gibraltar pays the freight on an order no additional liability or responsibility for that order is being assumed by Gibraltar. It is the sole responsibility of the receiver to file any freight claims.



HOW DO I REPORT FREIGHT DAMAGES?

Reports, and damage claims for all carriers, freight operators, UPS, Fed Ex, and other shipping services is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Receipt of this policy is your acknowledgment that you understand and agree to the above-mentioned terms and conditions. Our acceptance of an order is final and binding, and not subject to cancellation by the customer. If the customer cannot take receipt of goods on acknowledged delivery date, we reserve the right to transfer goods to storage. Cost of the transfer and storage will be charged to the purchasers account, and such transfer shall constitute shipment, including invoicing as of date of transfer and/or storage.



CAN YOU SHIP TO ME INTERNATIONALLY?

Many of our items are produced in Europe and can be shipped to our continental customers directly.

Other items can be shipped out to you straight from our US warehouses. We can send these items to you in one of two ways:

One, we can send them to any location you wish in the United States and they can forward such to you.

Two, we can set up your purchases so that a freight forwarding service can delivery your goods to you directly. For all these purchases shipped from the US you will have to arrange for a company to ship your items directly to you via a freight forwarder. This is something that you will have to do on your end. You can find listings for freight forwarders in the phone book and also on the Internet. We will provide you with all of the necessary forms, data, and documents to assist you. You will have to pay for all of the freight, duties, taxes, and customs on your end.

HOW MUCH IS THE LATE PAYMENT FEE?

By placing an order with Gibraltar the purchaser agrees to pay in full all accounts COD. Failure to comply will result in an automatic 2% late fee per month, and forfeiture of open credit. Gibraltar authorized sales representatives are not acting as agents of any factory. They empowered to present and promote the factory sales material and to take orders for its products. Any custom pricing or product verification is valid only if presented in writing by Gibraltar. All prices suggested list, F.O.B. factory, Los Angeles, Freight, crating, handling cartooning, delivery and installation costs are additional to the prices shown.
