Le Corbusier Extra Grande Confort 39" Chair Original Le Corbusier was born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret in Switzerland in 1887. He was a tireless proselytizer, addressing the public in his own magazine, exhibitions he designed and pamphlets he wrote. Dressed like a bureaucrat with his horn-rimmed glasses and dark suits, Le Corbusier was truly an artist, performing numerous paintings and sculptures. His greatest work includes the design of the city of Chandigar in India. This precise high quality reproduction of the original was designed for the 1929 Salon d'Automne. All of our Le Corbusier classics are made of 100% Italian leather, manufactured in Italy, by the Mastrotto Group. Based in Arzignano (Vicenza, Italy), the Mastrotto Group is the gold standard for world wide hide production and one of the most important global sources for the creation of upholstery, furniture, and leather goods. They are the exclusive source for all of the leather used in Mercedes Benz and BMW automobiles. Our premium top grain leather hides are aniline dyed and carefully turned in specially designed drums to soften them. Then a finish coat is added to protect the surfaces against all stains and fading. This top grain leather has a sublime butter soft hand feel. It is both resistance to sunlight, and very easy to maintain. This product offers an excellent combination of softness, durability and consistency. Not only is this leather supple and luxurious, it can outlast fabric up to four times longer. It is the highest quality part of the hide, and this top grain leather is derived from the uppermost layer of a hide. This leather is also known as semi-aniline or aniline plus. Frame: Stainless steel frame, polished to mirror shine. Unlike competitors' chrome plated version, our solid steel frame will not rust nor chip. Unlike inferior, lower quality versions with open joints and exposed screws, all joints are fully welded, sealed and sanded.
