About Our Le Corbusier Classic Series
The Le Corbusier group referred to their LC2 and LC3 collections (1928) as "cushion baskets," which they designed as a modernist response to the traditional club chair. These pieces reverse the standard structures of sofas and chairs by having frames that are externalized. With thick, resilient pillows resting within the steel frames, the idea was to offer all the comfort of a padded surface while applying the elegant minimalism and industrial rationale of the International Style.
We offer this iconic piece of design history and two formats.
The traditional square edged pillow design that features a Dacron polly wrapped foam construction. And the ultra premium lose down cushions. The down cushions offer a more relaxed look and are the pinnacle of comfort, grace, and artistic design.
This is our BEST-SELLING collection. It features a higher frame height and a 1 piece cushion system on a wide platform. Like two other Le Corbusier classics, the LC4 Chaise Lounge and the LC3, the LC2 Grand Confort was unveiled at the Salon d'Automne des Artistes Decorateurs in 1929.
